What is Physics? And why do we have to understand it?

ree

First of all, lets have an activity. We challenge you to jump in the air (without any gliders), and never come back down. Is that possible? No right. This is just one concept which Physics explains, which is the Gravity. We are going to learn much about it in our further posts.

So, now, let's come to the actual point. What is Physics? We know, this is just basics, and it might bore you because you already know about it. But, since this is the first post, I have to start from the Scratch. The most formal way of answering that question is "Physics is that branch of Science, which deals with the study about the nature, that is the Physical world. Physics is derived from the Latin word 'Fusis', which means 'study about the nature'."

Now, let's go with the informal way, that is, let's not define it now. Let's understand it the interesting way. You would have wondered, why are we standing on the land? Why on Earth aren't we floating? Why is the Earth revolving around the Sun? Why is the Sun glowing? How are we able to see things? Well, the simple answer to all these questions is because of the concepts of Physics. We are going to learn more about all those phenomena in further posts.

Physics is broadly classified into two major domains, The Macroscopic Domain and The Microscopic Domain. The Macroscopic domain is the study of the larger objects in the universe, which include all the things that you use regularly, like, a glass, your phone or your pc, which you are using now to read this post, and many more things, and also, very large things like, moons, planets, stars and many more, the list is long. All these things need common laws, theories and concepts to understand them right? So, they were all grouped into one branch of physics called "CLASSICAL PHYSICS". We will make a separate post about a detailed version of it, in the upcoming posts. Now, similarly, in the 1900s, when the physicists thought that all the discoveries in physics were done, a Scientist came up with the idea of studying about the nature and behaviour of the very minute particles, like, Proton, Electrons, Neutrons and other atomic and sub-atomic scales, which we are going to discuss about later. This is called the Microscopic domain. The study of these gave rise to a new branch in Physics called "MODERN PHYSICS" or the "QUANTUM PHYSICS". Let's study about them in the later posts. Now, as you can see, physics is such a vast subject.

Okay, so after all this, why should we know Physics? If this is the question in your mind, then, we are gonna answer it to you. The main reason that you have to know about Physics can be for your survival, in extreme conditions. Let us take an example, You have gone for trecking. There you have to spend a night there, and as we know that it will be colder at the cliffs (that is also known by physics, that the altitude increases, the temperature decreases), but, you forgot to carry the matches. So, now what you do, is pick up a few twigs, and then, light them by rubbing two stones. Now, why did you feel to rub the stones against each other, to cause fire? That was because of the frictional force between them. This is just one example. There are many more, which we are not going to discuss about now. The main intention was to make you understand the importance of Physics. Physics can be the main part of your career, like, you can work as a Physicist, or a Space scientist at well recognised major Space Research Organisations and so on. You can get many more such importances of learning physics.

So, by this, we are going to conclude our post. Hope you enjoyed reading it. If you liked my post, then please follow my website for more such exciting content in the near future. That's all for now.

THANK YOU
